The Dirtbombs’ “Party Store” album was one of the most anticipated albums to come out this year and received much attention. However, most people slept on the accompanying remix ep, that has Detroit artists Kyle Hall, Omar S and Ectomorph remixing tracks from the Dirtbombs’ album. Its like Detroit to the power of three: written, performed and remixed. Check it for free on the Scion soundcloud.
A week or two ago I opened my mailbox to a package from T-Dot radio/mixtape legend Mastermind (who currently holds down a radio gig in Calgary) containing two DVDs worth of classic mixtapes from the 90’s into the past decade, complete with pdfs of the cover art!
Needless to say that beyond smoking grass and nerding out, not much got done that day.
And since it would be mean not to, i picked a mix at random and shared it on our Soundcloud for you to peruse.
New Label 100% Silk dropped their first two releases late last month and are already on to something 100% killer . Their first release is by Ital with “Ital’s Theme” (not to be confused with this house classic) and their second release is from Toronto act, the Deeep, with a remix single of the track, “Mudd” (that initially appeared on the Not Not Fun Records label) . 10% House + 10% New Beat + 10% Italo + 10% Acid + 10% Nu-Disco + 10% Psychedelic + 10% Indie Rock + 10% Minimal + 10% Dubstep + 10% Techno = 100% Silk. Check 100% Silk’s blog for more info, videos and future releases.
