Yesterday was some turbulent times:
1) Nate Dogg dies. Not two days after i posted about him (on facebook, not here) he dies. No word yet as to what happened but he suffered two strokes previously. My heart goes out to his fam.
2) Japan. My girlfriend’s in Japan write now. Daily earthquakes. !0,000 presumed dead. Bodies washing up on the shore. Whole towns wiped out. You should make a donation where you can.
3) Tsutomu Katoh dies. One of the founders and chairmen of Korg, who was responsible for gear like to the MS20 to the Kaos Pad lost his battle with cancer. I heard first from Gabe Knox, just as he posted it the above Buzzcocks was playing. Seriously.
As you probably already know, Egyptrixx’ first full length just came out on the unstoppable Night Slugs imprint, and since we’re so fucking cool, we have a copy to give away!
This double vinyl release comes with beautiful artwork and is a foray into moodier/darker territory without ignoring the dancefloor. If you’re interested in write-ups from people who finished high school, check the Pitchfork and Resident Advisor reviews.
To win, send us a hand-drawn facsimile of the album cover (artistic talent not necessary) to Underdog.RSVP@gmail.com with “BIBLE EYES” in the subject line and we’ll announce the winner in the following weeks!
And since there can only be one winner (and even that winner doesn’t want to rip vinyl to their computer), you should probably just go ahead and buy the digital release by following the link below.
If you haven’t seen it, you should check the 1971 documentary On Any Sunday (no not On Any Given Sunday). Its about motorcycle racing and the soundtrack by Dominic Frontiere is some dope Psychedelic Rock/ Funk “library” style shit.

This Friday, Galapagos is pleased to present London’s Girl Unit (in his Canadian debut) alongside Night Slugs luminaries Bok Bok and Kingdom.
Girl Unit recently did a 50 minute live mix for Boiler Room a DJ/performance video series described by The Fader as “an extension, or even evolution, of London’s rich pirate radio culture. A small, sweaty room. Great DJs. The odd live performance. Red Stripe. Rum.”
Click the link below for Girl Unit’s set and make sure you poke around the site for the countless other gems on there.
New mixtape from The Stencil from the Caps half of DJ duo Caps N Jones in the non-dance music lane. Your older sister will probably like this a lot and i don’t mean that in a bad way.
Here’s the blurb that came along with it:
Me and Finny put together a mix over the past couple weeks for fun. It’s a collection of songs that both of us are interested in, or have loved forever, or have loved lately. I’m real happy to finally get some of these on a tape. Plus I love the pace of this—the tape is an hour long because we wanted to let things play. We have plenty of time to play b-sides. Plus look at the cover art!
